Switzerland's participation in the UN system

The following overview lists agencies, bodies and programs of the UN system in which Switzerland is either member or to which it made or makes financial contributions. Peace mandates and other ad hoc missions are not recorded. The data on Switzerland's contributions to the organizations and programs of the UN are based on the time at which participation took place for the first time. The permalink refers to the Dodis database, where further information and a large number of documents related to the respective entities can be found. Some League of Nations organizations were taken over by the UN as specialized agencies (e.g. ILO). Others had been independent international organizations (e.g. ITU or UPU) since the 19th century, which were integrated into the UN system after the Second World War. Switzerland was already a member of a number of these organizations before the UN came into being.
