Thomas Bürgisser, born. 1979, MA, studied Eastern European History, Slavonic Studies and Contemporary History at the University of Basel and the University of Zagreb. Master Thesis on the stay of escaped Russian prisoners of war and deserters in Switzerland during the First World War. From 2008 until 2009 academic assistant to Prof. Dr. Heiko Haumann at the Historical Seminar at the University of Basel. Since July 2009 academic researcher for the Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland.
Main fields of research
Switzerland’s relations with Russia and Yugoslavia and local history.
At the DDS responsible for Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union and China as well as aspects of security, refugee and migration policies.
